Launch Party Recap – Part 2

Last week we held the launch party for EasyEarTraining.com at the Union Chapel in London. It was a great opportunity to gather a great mix of music lovers from all kinds of backgrounds, each with their own take on developing their ears, to discuss and try out different approaches to ear training.
This is the second part of our recap – click here to read part one if you missed it, and make sure you come back later this week to check out video footage of the evening’s events!
Apart from the RelativePitch, frequency training, and Wii Music demos, we had a couple of laptops set up for people to check out the site, the forums, and our ‘Intro to Ear Training’ Quiz. Click to read the rest…

Launch Party Recap – Part 1
Around this time last week we held the EasyEarTraining.com launch party, upstairs at the Union Chapel in London. The Union Chapel is one of the most incredible music venues in London – a beautiful old church with fantastic acoustics – so there couldn’t be a better place to launch a new site dedicated to helping musicians reach new heights!

We had guests from across the musical spectrum – Music lovers, hobbyist musicians, professional musicians (like the wonderful Annalie Wilson; if you haven’t heard her album, go listen now), Gilbert & Sullivan fans, experts in digital music and ground-breaking audio technologies, backstage concert crew, audio software developers, music-loving journalists, and primary school teachers – all gathered together to learn more about ear training, and how new technology can help make developing your ear easy and fun.
It was fascinating to hear different people’s thoughts on ear training, and learn about their own experiences in developing their musical ear. |

Recap: Launch Week
It’s been a busy first week here at EasyEarTraining.com! Here are some things you might have missed:
First things first – What is ear training? Find out here, (and if you’re still not sure let us know in the comments below!)
We introduced our team of authors for the site – Sabrina showed us how to bring rhythm into our lives. Thomas kicked off his new series Pitch & Harmony with a piece on the importance of ear training. Fotios got stuck straight into why you should make frequency training part of your musical life, the first in his series Frequency Fundamentals, and Joseph offered some great advice for making sure your time spent training really helps you learn.
We launched our first quiz here on the site, “Intro To Ear Training” which is a great first step if you want to develop your ears but don’t know where to start. We’ve had scores across the board, from 0/10 right up to a few people scoring 10/10 – impressive!
Our Resources page went live with links to all sorts of helpful sites for ear training. There’s still more to add though, let us know if we’ve missed any of your favourites…
We opened the doors to our Forums, where you can come ask for help, offer your own guidance and tips, and discuss your training with other musicians and audio lovers. Come sign up (it only takes a minute), introduce yourself and speak your mind!
In celebration of the site launch, we cut the price of our RelativePitch iPhone app – today’s your last chance to pick it up at 25% off! We also put a new demo video online for RelativePitchLite, the free introductory version. If you don’t know a minor sixth from a tritone and want to hear more detail in the music you love, now’s the time to make it happen!
Speaking of celebrations, tomorrow is the official EasyEarTraining.com launch party in London! We’re rushing around right now, doing last-minute preparations to make sure it’s a great evening. There’s still a few places left on the guest list, so if you want to learn more about how ear training can be made easy, effective and fun, check out the event on Facebook or email and come celebrate with us tomorrow!
Phew, that was a busy week! There’s lots more lined up for the weeks to come, including the continuation of our two new series on harmony and frequencies, more posts from our expert authors, new online training tools and some exciting developments on the iPhone app front. If you want to make sure you don’t miss out on any of it, you can subscribe for email notifications of new articles or use our RSS feed to stay up to date. You can also find us on Twitter and Facebook.
Now over to you – what do you want to see here on the site? How can we help with your training? We’d love to hear from you, in the comments below or over in the forums.
